A 25-50µm thick hard anodised film will typically have a Vickers rating of around 1100. Hard anodising also provides a high degree of electrical insulation.

Anodising is an electrolytic process which requires an electrical contact point at all times during the treatment – this means that a very small set of jig marks will always appear after treatment.
